Looking real quick at where we came from and how we got there 8 or 9 years ago gives some insight to why we don’t deserve any better. We didn’t just elect the worst president in history in 2000 we elected to have the worst administration in history to govern, direct, and influence our nation.
Paul Wolfowitz claimed to be the highest authority on the Middle East and of course the only true person who could change the thinking, the direction of those countries that have been killing each other for centuries. The truth is he had a very hard time getting dates while growing up and really wanted to ask out Shaha Ali Raza but didn’t think she would say yes unless he had one of the highest executive positions in the world. Why else would anyone risk marriage and the leadership of the World Bank? He had no intention of influencing the world or the Middle East. He just wanted a date. Now how to get the job? What he needed was a war in the Middle East region.
Donald Rumsfeld had been playing with toy soldiers in his basement since he was 5 years old and a few years before Bush was elected the family dog ate more than half of his army men. After weeks in a depression he realized he could win just as many battles with a lot less men and have just as much fun. When we get back into the White House, he thought, I will be sure to implement this logic with our military. The Pentagon and the American people will love it. Now all we need is a war. How 9/11 really happened I will leave up to you.
Dick Cheney wanted to be the Godfather ever since Brando and Pacino. He wanted to get even with Americans for what they did to Richard Nixon. He also had to restore the power and the position of Texans and oil barons that Bill Clinton had taken from them. Creating a market for huge increases in oil and gas, illegal non-bid contracts to Texas corporations, was the best way he could think of to give the shaft to Americans on both counts. All he needed was something big, really big as cover so no one would catch on. What he needed was a war.
Then there’s the brilliant statesman George W. Bush. He would allow all the above to happen as long as he could get even with Saddam Hussein for embarrassing his daddy. We all know in Texas they “don’t take kindly to that sort of thang.” As Calvin Trillin said, “This was a fourth grade school yard brawl.” When Bush won his second term he filled an auditorium full of screaming, cheering Texan supporters. He stood at the podium and said “I will never forget where I came from.” The crowd of Texans went crazy! What is everybody stupid? He’s from Connecticut. That moment alone ought to give some insight to the brilliance of the American intellect. All Bush needed was a war. The only way to get a war was to be attacked. Then, like a gift from above, they all got 9/11. How convenient.
There was a problem. In order to get their war they must go after those who started it. Not even Americans would buy into going to Iraq if Osama Bin Laden were in Afghanistan. So we attack Afghanistan and chase bin Laden all the way into Pakistan. Then we stopped. What! Why? We go into Afghanistan without asking anyone permission but then we have to stop at the border why? To this day almost no one asks this question. We now know they lied about nuclear weapons, WMD’s in general, and the connection to al Qaeda in Iraq. But we aren’t the least bit curios why we won’t go into Pakistan? Then we consider ourselves as Americans to have superior intellect among humans. We didn’t just fall for this nonsense once but re-elected these conscientious, caring, upstanding, noble individuals.
Now, although it took 8 years, we are finally wise to these psychotic, immature, redneck make believe cowboy criminals and have the opportunity to correct our mistakes. The ability to make history, maybe even change history! We are Americans. We are resilient. We have the ability to rise above, remember, and learn from our mistakes.
Right.
We have a young, charismatic, intelligent senator who actually cares for Americans, all Americans. He actually believes that we can rise above our mistakes of the past, lift up our way of thinking to a level that will make changing the nose-dive course we are now set on possible. Barrack Obama believes it is possible, after 8 years of tyrannical rule for the elite, that all Americans can be brought together and included in the process of decisions. Obama has the belief that we think, talk, and exhaust all means (not just the ones we want) with everyone affected, before entering a pre-emptive war. He has given us ideas on how to work toward fixing a drastically broken health care program for all Americans. He wants to get everyone, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, all Americans together to work as one great country. He wants to raise all the real issues facing America to a level so we can address them.
How naïve can one man be?
How do we respond to this? We let Rush Limbaugh tell us you can’t vote for a Black man that doesn’t wear a flag pin on his lapel. We allow right wing, state controlled media such as Fox and ABC NEWS to make us believe that we can’t possibly listen to anyone who has a former pastor like reverend Wright. We will, as mental giants, allow any minute, ridiculously petty thinking influence our ability to bring this nation together. Neo-conservatives will do everything in their power to keep us from thinking on our own, deciding what is best for all Americans and not just the elite few. Knowledge is wealth and it’s cheap. Anyone can get it. Everyone can share it. Once you have it no one can take it away from you.
The problem is you can’t control intellect. Once someone has it they can’t be influenced with simple scare tactics like different Crayola color threat levels. They can’t be lead around like sheep. They ask questions, want to know all the options or opportunities for the best possible solution in a problem. If working together as Americans is the best way to resolve poverty in the poor Appalachians, the Rust Belt, in all America, then why do we crucify a man for bringing the problem of desperate Americans to the discussion? Why, because someone told us to. When Obama brought to our attention the fact that small town “middle” Americans had lost jobs over seas and to Mexico and other countries were desperate no one disputed it as fact only that he shouldn’t have said it.
Hillary Clinton has gone to the lowest depths, calling Barrack Obama everything she can dream up (and it’s early yet) shy of being Gay. In order to differentiate herself from Obama she has made the case, with how she would handle a crisis like a nuclear Iran, that maybe John McCain would have better credentials. Now polls say that McCain, who claims to follow in the footsteps of Bush on taxes, and Iraq, is running neck and neck with both Clinton and Obama. How on earth can we, as the intellectuals we think we are, even consider another Republican? What are we nuts?
Every American, every human being needs to look at the facts that it could possibly take 10 to 12 years, maybe longer, to fix the horrible mess we allowed ourselves to get into the past 8 years. Their dark mark on the world will take great fortitude and transparency to correct. We can’t allow the neo-cons, the left wing media morons, the war mongers to scare us into believing something that isn’t true just because they said it. We were conned into this mess the same way last time. We also can’t stand by and allow this type of bullying to keep us away as in the past. A friend wrote after Bush’s second election and said “Well, they all get what they voted for.”
No, we all get what they voted for.
Every parent who has a child that is now 9 or 10 years old can’t assume that they are too young to be affected by the decisions of these madmen today. Consider this the Bush administration held the Whitehouse and America hostage for 8 years. During another 8 years of following the same irrational thinking of world affairs where will that 10 year old be? If we stay the course we are on now and allow our country to invade, bomb, screw with another country without “Allied” help there will be no choice but to reinstitute the draft. If John McCain is elected, and he follows his party’s wishes, even if he doesn’t want to he will have to start drafting young men and women to fight their war. He will have no other alternative. Our decision today affects everyone tomorrow.
We need to listen and digest much of what Barrack Obama has been saying even if we don’t elect him as president. As Americans, as human beings, the ideas that Barrack Obama has laid out for our country needs to be studied, followed, and implemented because they are the right ideas, the right solutions, and simply for own survival. If we elect to put another republican in the Whitehouse then we deserve to have more Americans killed senselessly in Iraq, more children suffer from hunger, more men and women out of work without health care for their families. We don’t deserve to have someone as intelligent or caring as Barrack Obama.

Barack Obama is no Martin Luther King. Your regard for this man is the result of viewing life through the prism of BDS.
There is some good in what BHO has to say. But, since he doesn’t really say anything specific, any good in his message is too little to be worth much.
We deserve a President like Barack the same way a corporation needs a recent MBA graduate as CEO.

They have told me the only cure for BDS is when he is charged, tried, and convicted in Hague.
Until then I write.
